The Museum thanks trustee John McAvoy and Consolidated Edison, Inc., for making the NYSE bell ringing possible.
On Friday, August 10, several Intrepid former crew members joined Museum President Susan Marenoff-Zausner and Museum Co-Chairman Bruce Mosler at the New York Stock Exchange to ring the opening bell. The New York Stock Exchange welcomed the Museum in honor of Intrepid’s 75th commissioning anniversary, coming up on August 16, and the former crew members were greeted with a standing ovation. In 75 years, Intrepid has transformed from a military marvel to a modern metropolitan museum—one that has become part of the heartbeat of New York City. The Museum is celebrating its 75 years of service on August 16–19 with a weekend of special talks, demos, events, and festivities honoring the ship and the service of its crew.
